Autonomous mobility can create great positive social effects
– under the condition that it is utilized wisely.
SAMS Norway is a business cluster focusing on development of systems for sustainable autonomous transport solutions used on land, air and sea. Within the field of mobility, we are a national non- profit member organization that works closely with our partners to reach common goals.
In 2018, SAMS Norway became part of the ARENA programme – a three-year cluster program owned by Innovation Norway, SIVA and the Norwegian Research Council.
Autonomous mobility can create great positive social effects – under the condition that it is utilized wisely. SAMS Norway offers the tools and network to ensure that we together can achieve a significant value creation in Norway.
We are convinced that this can only be done through cooperation and co-creation.
Together with our partners, start-ups, universities and research institutes, we continue to develop and provide a wide range of technologies, solutions and systems.
We need to do better to ensure good quality of life and sustainable use of resources. The system is ready to be changed and with today’s technology we can.
– Sustainable Autonomous Mobility System – SAMS
Run an offensive and export-oriented development of autonomous systems for a global market.
Contribute to build attractive test arenas for autonomous systems in order to develop, test, verify and certify new solutions.
Participate in the development of international standards and safety regulations to secure Norwegian interests.
Develop and maintain a good and coordinated cooperation between the cluster, its members, ministries, agencies and the society in order to create good conditions for further Norwegian business development.
Implement and coordinate activities that will contribute to build and strengthen a robust cluster. To develop a strong cooperation environment and a knowledge sharing culture is central to achieve this goal.
Autonomous solutions have been developed, tested and delivered for almost 40 years. We build on generations of experience with mastering the ocean, living with challenging weather conditions and utilizing all talent across the society. By being a highly digitized society, the leading market for EVs and in general positive to new technology – makes Norway the perfect home market for autonomous mobility. The Norwegian collaboration between companies, unions and government gives us a unique structure for systems innovation.
Self-driving solutions can sense its environment by sensors through Advanced control system and therefor be able to move safely.
// Autonomous Port Operations
Autonomous maritime solutions in combination with autonomous port operations, opens for increased safety and efficiency in the transport chain.
// Autonomous Vessels
Kongsberg is installing and testing autonomous technology on two vessels for use especially in short sea coastal shipping and Europe’s inland waterways – project Autoship
// Unmanned aerial vehicle – UAV
UAVs offer new ways of transporting goods as well as people, often in combination with other transport modalities. UAVs can also perform tasks that are dangerous for humans in a safer and more efficient manner.
// Autonomous Snow Technology
Autonomous snowploughs have been tested for the first time at Fagernes airport in Norway as a way of clearing snow more effectively.
Watch in action her!
// Autonomous Shuttle in Kongsberg
Pilot project of an autonomous shuttle service in Kongsberg. The project will utilise EasyMile’s EZ10 driverless shuttle to provide the first and last mile connecting services to existing public transport.
